The Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme is an Australian Government initiative available through a range of Service Providers, of which TeleBiz is a registered Dealer e.g. TeleBiz could provide a satellite phone under the subsidy scheme for approximately $500 (excluding calls).

Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme Guidelines & Application

The above application form will ask for TeleBiz Dealer code which is: D01079. The turnaround time for approval confirmation is approximately two weeks and both the applicant and TeleBiz will be advised in writing. Applicants must have the subsidy approved before taking possession of a satellite phone under the satellite subsidy scheme arrangement. Please contact TeleBiz on 1300 787 798 for further information.

Exporting

Excluding well known reputable international companies, TeleBiz will only export satellite phones after receiving cash up front (not credit cards) and we will not knowingly ship to any customers that may use the equipment for warfare, excluding Australia Defense Forces.

Explanation of Iridium Satellite Network

The Iridium Satellite network was initially built by Motorola and consists of approximately 70 geo-stationary satellites spread around our planet. Boeing maintains the Iridium system. Iridium offers superior signal strength and call quality because the satellites are closer to the Earth’s surface, thus minimizing lag time and the higher number of satellites provides better coverage in remote or difficult terrains.

The company derives its name from the chemical element known as Iridium. The size of the Iridium satellite constellation projected in the early stages of planning was 77 - which happens to be equivalent to the atomic number for Iridium. The satellites used are frequently visible in the early night sky as satellite flares - a phenomenon typically observed as short-lived bright flashes of light.
